Long ago, eagles only ate land animals because it was their favorite food. Unfortunately, there were only a few land animals left. One eagle was very hungry. He swooped and grabbed the fish. He ate it and then he made a funny face and then said "MMM… DELICOUIOUS!" then another eagle tried the fish and said the same thing. After this day, eagles only eat fish. There were more eagles than anything else so soon, here were only about 15 fish left in the sea. This was a problem, because if there were no fish left on earth many animals would starve.

The water god had a plan to make a special fish so that whichever eagle ate it would have fish babies. These fish babies would be like no other. They would have shiny scale like feathers, a fish head, wings, and they could fly and breathe oxygen. There was an eagle named Meket she was very strong, fast and swift. She had beautiful brown, white and black feathers with nice yellow eyes and a beck. She spotted the fish, which the water god had made and set into a power dive. She went down, down, down and grabbed the fish in her claws. She was so happy about her catch, she flew straight home to gobble down the fish, and she did. But the fish tasted very strange. Her stomach felt weird and began to hurt for a little bit.

About 2 weeks later, Meket had four eggs. The eggs were covered with green pokey dots. She was very mystified and hoped her eggs did not have a disease or were rotten. She could not weight for the eggs to hatch. It only took two weeks. When they hatched, she saw the fish head pop out, and she screamed so loud that every animal on earth heard her. They came over and asked," What's wrong Meket?" she said "look what's coming out of my egg!" everyone looked down (especially the eagles) when they saw the four fish fly out of the nest. Everyone "Wowed!" and "Oooed!" and "Ahhed!" They flew around for a while and then came back to the nest. The four said, "Hi mom." Good thing Meket was a nice eagle woman, so she accepted them as her children. Since the animals saw Meket's children, they stopped eating fish.

But the other eagles' children did not believe the story about Meket's children, so they eat fish. Some did so they only eat land animals. When Meket's children had babies, they were normal fish except for the fact that they had wings. They could not breathe air, but they could glide over water and swim. That's how flying fish came to be and why eagles don't only eat fish anymore.
