Field Trips

In the Fourth Grade, our field trips are woven into the fabric of the curriculum. As we explore the history of California, we use local resources to enrich our understanding of the past. Here are some of the trips we have taken over the past five years: Santa Barbara KIDS' Film Festival, Albinger Archaeological Museum (actual archaeological site of the old Ventura mission), Carpinteria Valley Museum (focus on the Native Americans), Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History (Chumash talk), Santa Barbara Museum of Art (California Landscapes), Santa Barbara Botanic Garden (native plants), La Purisima Mission (Student Living History Day), Sea Center (Oceanographer for a Day), Santa Barbara Symphony (Children's Program), and Santa Cruz Island (Island ecology & Chumash). Below are photographs of our two most important trips, La Purisima Mission and Santa Cruz Island.
